The Transition

About
Rowing has a long and storied history at LMU. It’s one of the oldest and most celebrated programs here, and we’re trying to make sure it stays that way.
In 2024, LMU administration unexpectedly let rowing and multiple other varsity sports know that the programs would not be allowed to continue at the Division I level. Since then, we’ve transitioned to a club-level team and are committed to making sure that the rowing presence and legacy continues at LMU, albeit in a different capacity as the team has operated in the past. This season has been eye-opening in many ways and has taken incredible effort by both new and returning team members — not only on the water but in organizational and administrative aspects as well. Many team members have taken on increased responsibility both in day-to-day practice logistics and behind-the-scenes operations, and have had to jump into roles that were previously not student- driven. While we’ve learned a lot through the events of the past year and are proud of what we’ve been able to accomplish, we would love some additional help in making LMU rowing what it was —and could be again.
Rowing means a lot to us, as it does to you, and we want to make sure that the team not only
progresses through this season, but is also set up for success in the future as well. It would mean the world to us if you were able to contribute to the team, and help us keep rowing an integral part of LMU’s culture.
